I am not a cue-sport person but that doesn’t stop me from appreciating the game. (If you wonder about the difference between pool/billard/snooker, click this link).
The simplest way to explain the game to a novice is that you use the cue stick to hit the cueball which then get ball(s) into the pockets. Good players will tell you it is MUCH more than that.
Without even talking about how to play against someone, you have to be able to aim and shoot straight consistently. You have to be able to execute your plan and decision by controlling the angle of the contact of the stick to the cueball, understand how your cueball reach and affect the target. You will also need to know why a straight line may not be a viable way. That is just the delivery side without even considering what is on the table and the opportunities that you may open to your opponent as a consequence.
In martial arts, training just the physical aspect is like focusing on how to hold and move the cue-stick, it is needed but far from being its entirety. You can practice delivery a thousand times without really improving the game. Furthermore, if you cannot manage your emotions and nerves during the game, you will never reach your true potential either.

Does the above help explain the combat triad? Make your best attempt in explaining “resources” and how that is related to the combat triad. Try to draw a parallel and explain it in the simplest way possible.
