There is nothing wrong with having more resources be it money, strength, flexibility etc. However, the value of each type of resource is highly subjective. For example, a gold bar may be worth a lot of money. However, after an earth quack, lack of basic needs like food and water may place its value over gold or diamonds.
Time and energy is a limited resource. If you spend most of your time acquiring resource(s) that you don’t need, you better make sure you are having fun during the process. There are rich people that spend their entire life acquiring money/power but because of the lack of personal/family time, they end up spending what they acquired on divorces. Similarly, weight-lifting is good and needed but if you spend too much time in just building size of muscles, cardio and technique may fall short and all the strength in the world may not last you five rounds.
My parents told me not to waste food and be thankful for having food on the table. I was told to finish up whatever is left on the table and in so doing, not ‘waste’ food. As an adult, I think that over-eating is also a form of wastage – you are eating more than what your body needs and it either accumulate as fat (which is bad for you anyways) or if the body cannot absorb it, it will just go out the other way anyways.
Having a resource does not quarantee that it is assessibile when you need it. Some company need to fold not because of the lack of assets but the lack of a positive cash flow.
The fact that we can stand, walk, talk and think means that inherent within each of us, there are already useable resources. However, not everyone knows how to tap into those resources effectively. As a martial artist, you are exploring the finding, developing as well as the effective use of resources.
