A fighter has to focus on how he can hurt his opponent and NOT how he might get hurt. A gymnast need to focus on what they need to do and NOT what might happen. There is absolutely no shame in giving your best and yet failed because you can get back up and be stronger next time.
“Back to Basics” performance is on its second year. It is an important milestone for the gymnasts as well as for me. Thank you and best of luck to everyone!
Mistakes:
are often from the simplest things that you take-for-granted
are made when you did not learn from past tiny mistakes
gets bigger and bigger when you allow them to snowball
are made when you just can’t let go of the negative thoughts
are opportunities and dreams that you let go of without even trying
are unrecoverable bad choices you made while you are under influence
are stupid risks you took knowingly
are forgivable, if you admit them and decide to do something about them
are the necessary building blocks for learning
are simply dues that you have to pay to be successful.
So allow yourself to fail but do stand up and try again!
Exercise:
In whatever role that you in at the “Back to Basics” – performer, gymnast, judge, coach, audience, volunteer, remember that everyone plays an important part to the success of the team and the program. Be proud of how far we came and keep giving it your best, it will pay you back in ways you cannot anticipate.
- What can you do better next year?
- What did you enjoy most?
